Commemorating Africa Day by Celebrating African Art

DotoBa Africa 2024

DotoBa is celebrating Africa Day - 2024:

Michael is from Nigeria and lives in Ireland. He discovered his love for art at a tender age however his parents never encouraged him to put energy to his dream as artists in most African societies are not valued.

He grew up continuing his love of art and sketched in notebooks whilst hiding them from the public as he was afraid of being ridiculed.

9 years ago during a difficult time in his life, he started drawing again and he realized that by producing art, gave him a sense of hope and freedom to express himself and show the world his talent and potential. He has great passion in what he does and feels that his art has great significance towards portraying African heritage and beauty, a perspective he got from his mother who was proud of her identity.

His skill is the use of graphite is breathtaking and he has truly mastered the art of mixing African colors. See some of his work below.

He migrated to Ireland due to the strong family value that the country holds and has worked with a few voluntary art organizations.

He hopes to do more exhibitions and travel whilst promoting his art. His networking support is mostly on social media and finds it hard to connect with the community in Ireland.

He hopes that there can be more collaboration with Irish artists that would great a platform for Integration.
